The business began as a specialist in structured network cabling and has since expanded into a group of complementary service lines covering fibre optic cabling, security systems, structured cabling, electrical works, and network testing and certification. Customers include multi-site companies, universities, schools, solicitors, medical centres, and public sector bodies including the Ministry of Defence.

FBX Security — CCTV & Access Control
IP-based CCTV and access control solutions for schools, universities and other security-conscious organisations. Services include Power-over-Ethernet door control, centralised web-based management, biometric integration, time and attendance reporting, and integration between access control and surveillance systems. Accredited camera partners include Axis, Dahua and Mobotix, alongside Paxton access control systems.

CCTV
When looking for the latest CCTV technology, our IP-based solution offers an open platform that will allow integration with other systems, giving intelligence to an installation.
IP-based solutions offer 100% digital high-definition images from start to finish. This provides the quality required for ANPR/LPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) and for camera images to be used as evidence. IP cameras from their conception were designed to produce images of better quality than traditional CCTV cameras. The newer IP cameras are true HD format, which has only continued to lead to massive growth in the IP market.
IP camera solutions offer lower cost installations when utilising existing infrastructure. Some simple ‘plug into network’ cameras can use Power over Ethernet (POE), reducing the cost per camera, as power local to the camera is not required. Customers can start with one camera viewed in a web browser and build up to hundreds of cameras across multiple sites. Cameras can record in different formats, from Mpeg4 to H.264 in varying frame rates, enjoying features such as motion detection, email alerts and much more.
The best-of-breed approach is one that enables us to recommend and install cameras from our various accredited manufacturing partners such as Axis, DAHUA and Mobotix, dependent on the project. This enables us to choose from a large range of styles and formats of camera e.g. dome, static, wireless or pan/tilt/zoom. Although many camera manufacturers are supported, our system allows the same recording format to be used.
IP surveillance systems can be accessed remotely via the internet, allowing access to view camera images anywhere in the world. More than ever, multiple systems are being replaced by IP-enabled systems, because of their greater flexibility and control.

Structured Cabling
Putting the backbone into your business
Fibrenex has been installing structured cabling solutions for 20 years and has laid thousands of metres of CAT5/CAT5e and CAT6 for many different types of application, whether for telephony/LAN, CCTV applications or access control systems.
The purpose of data cabling, commonly called ‘structured cabling’, is to lay down a secure foundation for your communications and enhance the performance of your LAN (Local Area Network).
Copper cabling is always evolving to keep up with new processor speeds, software applications and protocols. CAT5 (10/100Mbps) is now obsolete. Over the years we have seen the change from CAT5 to CAT5e and then to CAT6.
CAT5e used to be the installation of choice as it could send gigabits over the network, but recently around 80% of new installations are in CAT6 as this allows for the maximum life span and return on investment. Also, due to how CAT6 is manufactured, it allows for fewer repeat transmissions and less network down time.
New developments in cabling now allow for CAT6a and even CAT7 cables. Currently CAT6a and CAT7 are not too common, but in time these cabling systems will be the preferred choice of many installations.
One important note when installing a cabling solution is that with CAT5e, CAT6, CAT6a and CAT7, the maximum length of a cable run is 95 metres. If your installations are in excess of this you can run fibre optic cables and Multicore for both voice and data with multiple cabinets.
